Fundação Iberê Camargo

There is a chunky white building at the Lake Guaíba, only a little away from the Beira-Rio stadium that the eyes surely cannot miss.

It was designed by Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza and it is definitely one of the most interesting constructions in the city of Porto Alegre which may slightly remind you on international peers like Guggenheim Bilbao, for example.

The vast spaces give home to a museum. Since 2008, it is mainly dedicated to the legacy of Brazilian painter Iberê Camargo but it also hosts other exhibitions and seminars presenting contemporary art. You can also participate in guided tours to learn more about the displayed objects.

Even more precious than the art works is the sunset over the lake that you can enjoy from the windows of the museum or from the small terrace outside. Thursdays, it stays open longer than usual (until 9PM), so you can spend all the evening wandering around the halls and finish it with some sun-gazing.

You can learn more about the museum, the exhibitions and the building by visiting their site.
